The Ramsey Glacier is a 72 km long glacier in the Ross Dependency of Antarctica . It flows north from the Bush Mountains near the polar plateau to the Ross Ice Shelf , which it reaches east of Den Hartog Peak on the Dufek Coast .
He was discovered during an overflight between February 29 and March 1, 1940 during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1962 at the suggestion of the US polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd after Admiral DeWitt C. Ramsey (1888-1961) of the United States Navy , deputy head of naval operations during Operation Highjump (1946-1947).
