Randall Balmer

Randall Herbert Balmer (born October 22, 1954 in Chicago ) is an American historian of religion . He is a professor at Barnard College of Columbia University , editor of Christianity Today and priest of the Episcopal Church .

Randall Balmer received his Ph.D. 1985 at Princeton University . He published several books on American religious history and published the "Encyclopedia of Evangelicalism" . His book "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory: A Journey into the Evangelical Subculture in America" was the basis of a three-part documentary on American public television PBS . Other documentaries of his that have aired on PBS include "Crusade: The Life of Billy Graham" and "In the Beginning: The Creationist Controversy."
