Ranger (supercomputer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The supercomputer ranger is located in the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at the University of Texas at Austin . With 320 TFlop / s LINPACK computing power, it was the fastest supercomputer in the civil sector when it went into operation. Due to delivery problems at the processor manufacturer AMD, it was only able to start trial operation on February 4th, 2008 and was officially inaugurated on February 22nd - a few hours after the (then second) fastest JUGENE at the Jülich Research Center .

In the last ranking of the Top500, it reached 50th place in November 2012 and was then switched off.
