Ranibennur is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka . The city is located in the center of the state and is about 300 km from Bangalore .

The city is part of the Haveri district . Ranibennur has Municipal Council status . The city is divided into 31 wards (constituencies).

The city's population is 106,365 according to the 2011 census. Ranibennur has a gender ratio of 969 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus that is usual for India. The literacy rate was 86.0% in 2011. Almost 71% of the population are Hindus , approx. 27% are Muslim and approx. 2% belong to another or no religion. Children under 6 years of age are 11.5% of the population.

Infrastructure

The city is connected to the rest of India through its train station. The city is on a national highway and has good bus connections. The city is around 1.5 hours by car from Hubli (105 km) and around 5 hours by car from Bangalore (300 km). Most of the buses between North Carnataka and South Carnataka run through Raneben only.

economy

Most of the population is employed in agriculture and related activities. There is a rich commodity market in Ranebennur. Goods such as cotton thread, cottonseed, oilseed, red chillies, betel nuts and betel leaves and other foods are traded. Several seed companies are based and active in the city. It is also known for its wholesale cloth market and all types of retail stores.

Attractions

In the village of Chaudayyadanapura , which is near Ranibennur, there is the Mukteshwar temple, which was built in the time of the Kalachuri .
