Raoul Petite are currently a six-piece French rock band from Apt . The band consists of the singer Christian Picard , called Carton , and the singer Cathy Casy , called Annie Cordy . They are supported by four other musicians. Over the years, the number of active musicians varied from one another.

Raul Petite was founded in 1979 in the town of Abt in the French Luberon massif in the Vaucluse department . The founding members were Christian Picard , called Carton, the singer Odile Avezard called O'Hazard , the two guitarists Fred "Kader" Tillard and Bertrand "Petite Bertha" Bernardi, the bassist Denis "Ben Radis" Bernardi, the two saxophonists Maurice "Momo le Proprio "Ducastaing and Bruno" Le Baron "Huet and the drummer Toto" Des Lazarins "Incherman. After Raul Petite acted as the opening act for Jacques Higelin and Pierre Vassiliu from 1981 , the band had their first solo concerts in France. In the same year came the first album with the name C'est sûr si t'assures, c'est pas dur on the French label Musidisc . The second album, which was recorded live, was released a year later on the CPA Disques label . Before the release, Marjorie Savino was added as the third singer and remained a permanent member of the band until 1989. From 1995 the band appeared abroad, including in Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Hungary. In Canada, Raoul Petite had her first concert outside of Europe. In 2003 the guitarist and songwriter Frédéric Tillard left the band. He has been a permanent member and the composer of many successful songs in the group since its inception. In 2005 a DVD was released called La Grande Histoire de Raoul Petite . This contained video clips, studio recordings and concert material from the years 1981 to 2005. The last album to date was called Yes Futur? appeared in 2011.

The line-up of the band changed again and again over the years. Only the head of the band, Christian Picard, has been there from the start. Up to 2013 a total of 28 musicians and 9 singers took part. The number of members has fluctuated between 8 and 13 members. Currently (2013) Raul Petite consist of 10 members. Most often the singers changed over the years. Co-founder Odile Avezard was the only singer until 1981. After that she was supported by Marjorie Savino. Both were with Raoul Petite until 1990. From 1988 onwards the band sometimes performed with 3 female singers. Mention should also be made of Irène Porcu, who was a permanent member from 1992 to 2003. The current singer Cathy Casy has been a member of the band since 2003. The second singer Juliette Masse, who was also there since 2003, left in 2012. So far, Raul Petite only appear with one singer.

Music style & stage presence

Raoul Petite combines many musical style elements. Some songs are more like reggae, others are rocky or accompanied by Arabic or Slavic melodies.

The band is characterized by an expressive stage performance. The singers dress in new clothes for almost every song. The songs are performed theatrically with various props .
