Nicolas Fiszman

Nicolas Fiszman (born July 19, 1964 in Brussels ) is a Belgian fusion and jazz musician ( double bass , bass guitar , also guitar , composition ) and music producer .

Fiszman started playing the guitar at the age of six; soon he learned folk guitar with the Belgian guitarist Benjamin Bertrand . At the age of eleven, he began studying jazz with the jazz guitarist Philip Catherine . At the age of 13 he switched to bass and began performing in 1977 with various artists such as Philip Catherine / Larry Coryell and on television with Toots Thielemans . In the next few years he also performed with the Belgian prog rock band Cos and the Belgian singer Maurane . Soon he played in the quartet of Christian Escoudé and the group of Catherine with Charlie Mariano and Trilok Gurtu . At the age of 20 he became a member of Jasper van't Hof's band Pili Pili with the singer Angélique Kidjo . He also accompanied artists such as Didier Lockwood , Alphonse Mouzon , Jacques Higelin , Alain Bashung , the Dissidents , Raoul Petite , Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine , Luca Carboni , Zazie , Rupert Hine , James Ingram , Johnny Halliday , Patricia Kaas , Manu Katché , Joe Zawinul , Sting , Benjamin Biolay , Charles Aznavour and Julio Iglesias . Since 2005 he has been part of Dominic Miller's band . First it can also be heard on albums by Paolo Radoni , Chris Hinze , Philippe Caillat , Eddie Defacq or Quentin Dujardin / Ivan Paduart .

As a studio musician, he was involved in hundreds of recordings. He started working as a music producer as early as the late 1980s; among others he has supervised Viktor Lazlo , Isabelle Antena , Jasper van't Hof's Pili Pili, David Linx , Maurane, Geoffrey Oryema , the Harlem Gospel Choir, Cheb Mami , Johnny Clegg and Henri Salvador .

Since 1991 he has also been involved as a producer, composer and arranger for Khadja Nin and supported Eric Serra with the compositions for the films Rollerball and Bulletproof Monk - The MGM's bulletproof monk .
