Maurane
Maurane (actually Claudine Luypaerts; born November 12, 1960 in Ixelles / Elsene ; † May 7, 2018 in Schaerbeek ) was a Belgian chanson singer .
Life
Claudine Luypaerts was born as the daughter of the composer and director of the Verviers Conservatory , Guy-Philippe Luypaerts (1931–1999). As a teenager she took part in various singing competitions. In 1979 she appeared on the side of Philippe Lafontaine in the musical Brel en mille temps , where she was finally discovered by the French composer Pierre Barouh .
The first joint publications came on the market in 1980, but were not very successful, and Luypaerts had to stay afloat by performing as a street musician or as a background singer with Jo Lemaire or Philippe Lafontaine. It wasn't until 1986 that her personal breakthrough came with the album Danser .
As of 2016, she took a two-year hiatus due to problems with her vocal cords . She was found dead on May 7, 2018. An autopsy was performed. The prosecution assumes a natural death.
