history
The Tageblatt was founded in 1913 by Paul Schroell . It was initially published by Escher printing and newspaper publishing . The editor-in-chief was Frantz Clément , later Gust van Werveke . For a while there were sister editions called Luxemburger Tageblatt and Differdinger Tageblatt . Like the French-language Le Quotidien and other publications, the Tageblatt is published by Editpress SA.
At the 17th European Newspaper Congress in Vienna in May 2016, the Tageblatt received five European Newspaper Awards for design in the categories of cover and cover story (twice), photography (atmosphere), visual storytelling and alternative storytelling. The daily newspaper is subsidized by the Luxembourg state through press support . In 2013 this amount was 1,580,122 euros.
