Raphaël Guerreiro (born April 24, 1968 in Montreuil ) is a former French football player .
Career
As a service provider of the reserve team, Guerreiro moved up to the first team of AJ Auxerre in 1986 . After not being used at first, after some time at the side of Daniel Dutuel he became a top performer in the first division . In the 1989/90 season it was also used for the first time in international competition. This was followed by a high point in his career in the 1992/93 European Cup season , when Guerreiro made it to the semi-finals with Auxerre, where the team only failed on penalties at Borussia Dortmund . In the following season, the club reached the national cup final , which was won 3-0 and brought Guerreiro the first title of his career. Because he was largely ousted by Sabri Lamouchi in the next season , he decided in 1995 to move to SM Caen . Guerreiro, who had previously played exclusively in the first division, was there for the first time in the second division and was able to celebrate promotion to the first division with the team around national player Pascal Vahirua in 1996. His return to the first division was limited to a single season until relegation in 1997. Since the promotion did not succeed in the following season, Guerreiro left Caen and signed in 1998 with the also second-rate club LB Châteauroux . He was one of the top performers there, but could not rise with the team and moved to the third division RC Besançon in 2000 . When his contract expired in 2001, he ended his career at the age of 33. After the end of his active career, he worked as a youth coach for Auxerre.
