Raqib Shaw
Raqib Shaw (* 1974 in Calcutta , India ) is an Indian painter.
Shaw was born in Calcutta and spent his teenage years in Kashmir . He studied art in London at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design since 1998 and graduated with a BA and an MA in 2002 .
His paintings, some of which are large-format, depict exotic fantasies with a lot of sheen and shimmer. No references to reality are discernible; Since 2004 Shaw's paintings have been exhibited in the USA and London, as well as auctioned for example.
