Rashid Maidin (born October 10, 1917 in Kampung Gunung Mesah , Perak , † September 1, 2006 in Sisakoin , southern Thailand ) was a Malaysian communist politician.

In 1951 Rashid joined the Parti Kebangsaan Melayu Malaya (PKMM) with other nationalists from Perak Province. When this was later banned by the British occupying forces, he joined the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) and, after being appointed by the then CPM secretary Chin Peng, led the party organization in Pahang . In 1955 he became known to a wider public during the Baling peace talks between the CPM and the later Malaysian Prime Minister Abdul Rahman . After the unsuccessful termination, he fled to the jungle on the border between Thailand and Malaysia.

It was not until 1989 that a peace agreement was finally concluded between the CPM guerrilla movement and the Malaysian government in the Thai town of Sisakoin ( Narathiwat ).
