Rasim Atala (born January 27, 1905 in Istanbul , † 1969 ) was a Turkish football goalkeeper . Due to his many years of work for Galatasaray Istanbul and as his own generation, he is associated with this club and viewed by club and fan sites as an important personality in the club's history. He belonged to the Galatasaray team that dominated Turkish football in the 1920s and won five of eight possible Istanbul championships .

Player career

society

Atala played in the youth department of Galatasaray Istanbul and was included in the professional squad here during the 1925/26 season. He came this season in a game of the İstanbul Ligi (dt. Istanbul League ) to use and made his professional debut. Since there was no national professional league in Turkey at that time, regional leagues existed instead in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir , of which İstanbul Ligi (also called İstanbul Futbol Ligi) was considered the most renowned. In the further course of the season Atala completed no other league use and was with his team with a clear point gap to arch-rivals Fenerbahçe Istanbul Istanbul champions. Atala played for Galatasaray until the summer of 1934, during which time he was almost exclusively a reservist and only replaced Ulvi Yenal and later Avni Kurgan . Only in the 1928/29 season he ousted Yenal and guarded Galatasaray's goal at nine out of ten possible goals. In the course of the next season he lost his regular place to the new goalkeeper Kurgan.

National team

Atala began his national team career in 1926 with a commitment for the Turkish national team in a friendly against the Polish national team . With this encounter he completed his first and last international match.
