Timber construction, around 1400

The first known town hall was a wooden structure built around 1400.

Renaissance half-timbered building, 1563–1726

In its place, a half-timbered building in the Renaissance style was built on the market square in 1563, which was destroyed in the town fire in 1726. According to the description of the chronicler Fizion, the half-timbered building from the Renaissance period with a bricked and arcaded ground floor rested on 33 stone pillars. There was a bay window at every corner of the town hall. The building was destroyed in the town fire in 1726. The site is now marked as a floor plan with red cobblestones. The large ram from the time of the siege of Reutlingen was said to be on its long side .

Rathausstrasse 6, 1746-1872

From 1746 to 1872 the town hall was located in the Rathausstrasse building. 6. From 1892 to 1893 it was home to the secondary school for girls, after which it served as an administration building.

Neo-Gothic building of the fruit hall, 1872–1945

In 1872 the town hall was relocated to the former fruit hall on the market square. This was built by Johann Georg Rupp in the neo-Gothic style. When the town hall was moved there, a corresponding renovation and expansion was carried out by the Berner building officer. The building had four bay windows and a central risalit with a clock gable and city coat of arms. This structure was destroyed by bombs in 1945.

Rathausstrasse 6, 1945-1966

After the war, the city administration moved into what is now the so-called listed "Old Town Hall" at Rathausstrasse 6. The office remained there until 1966, when the new town hall was inaugurated. From 1968, two floors of the building were used for exhibitions by the Reutlingen Art Association, until the Reutlingen Art Association moved into its own space in 2006 on Eberhardstrasse.

In 2012 the old town hall was extensively renovated.
