Blankenburg town hall
The Blankenburg town hall is the town hall of the town of Blankenburg (Harz) in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located on the south side of the town's market square at the address Markt 8 on the slope of the Schlossberg.
Architecture and history
The core of the building dates back to the Middle Ages . In the 16th century the house was rebuilt and expanded. In 1546 a large stair tower on a pentagonal floor plan was built on the right side of the side facing the market. In the period from 1577 major expansions took place. This is how the Renaissance- style portals that still exist today and lead to the market were created . Some of the windows of the town hall also date from this period. A clearly protruding risalit was added to the building, but it was removed again in 1870 and replaced by today's flat risalit . In the years 1583 and 1584 the town hall was added to the second floor.
On the west side of the building, a small extension was probably added at the beginning of the 17th century, the west facade of which is provided with a tail gable . Small balls are placed on the curves of the tail gable.
In 1734 there was another renovation. The tower portal and some of the windows go back to this. The roof turret crowning the town hall was added in 1738.
Inside there is a hall with a baroque beamed ceiling. At the transition from the stair tower to the first floor there is a seating niche portal with a frame in the late Gothic style .
In 1999 and 2000 the town hall, which is now unplastered, was restored.
In the local register of monuments , the town hall is listed as a monument under registration number 094 01782 .
