Schraplau town hall

The town hall of Schraplau is a monument in the community of Weida-Land in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

Location and history

There is a simple town hall in Marktstrasse Schraplaus , which can only be recognized as such by its roof turret. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that Schraplau did not develop into a city until around 1500, and on the other hand, because the city burned more frequently (documented for 1650, 1670, 1700) and was plundered four times during the Thirty Years' War. As a result, there was seldom money to create a representative building. In its current form, it is essentially shaped by a renovation in the period around 1930.

A small square with the Kakbrunnen has formed southwest of the town hall . The building itself now houses the Ratskeller . It is listed and is listed in the register of monuments with registration number 094 06118.
