The town hall fountain is a fountain in the local community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn .

location

The fountain is located on the local Dr.-Konrad-Adenauer-Platz in the district of Enkenbach in front of the town hall of the community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn, built in 1987 .

history

The Verbandsgemeinde Enkenbach-Alsenborn, as it existed until 2014 , was formed in 1972 in the course of the Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform from the local communities Enkenbach-Alsenborn , Mehlingen , Neuhemsbach and Sembach . The former was chosen as the namesake and seat. The administration of the Verbandsgemeinde was temporarily housed at two different locations before the town hall on Dr.-Konrad-Adenauer-Platz was completed in 1987. In the same year, a fountain was built on the latter, which was modeled by the sculptor Walter Bauer. The fountain itself is made of sandstone by Carl Picard . In the middle there is a bronze column on which a bowl is attached. There are a total of seven figures on the bowl, which symbolize the seven towns of Alsenborn , Baalborn , Enkenbach, Mehlingen, Neuhemsbach, Neukirchen and Sembach within the community of that time. Alsenborn and Enkenbach had already been merged to form the local parish Enkenbach-Alsenborn in 1969, while both Baalborn and Neukirchen had been incorporated into Mehlingen in 1939 and 1969, respectively. The figures symbolize the names of the respective places.

Locations including their Uznames

On the rim of the bowl, seven bronze figures represent the names of the communities belonging to the association:

Baalborner bull Baalborner bull Location in the Verbandsgemeinde coat of arms In Baalborn, local councils and farmers in the economy discussed communal matters intensely. He did it with the words: "Half of the Baalborn town councils are not oxen!"
Enkenbacher cuckoo Enkenbacher cuckoo Location in the Verbandsgemeinde coat of arms The Enkenbacher Kirchweih is called "Kuckuckskerwe" and falls in the time when the cuckoo stops calling, which is why the inhabitants of the neighboring villages claim that the Enkenbachers slaughtered the cuckoo to make a kerwebraten out of it.
The local community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn, newly formed in 1969, was awarded the Enkenbach coat of arms, which contains the Alsenborn coat of arms with the column fountain.
