The Verbandsgemeinde Enkenbach-Alsenborn is an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the district of Kaiserslautern in Rhineland-Palatinate . The municipality has eight independent local churches at the administrative headquarters are in the town of Enkenbach-Alsenborn .

On July 1, 2014, due to a so-called "forced merger", the municipalities of the Hochspeyer association, which was dissolved at the same time, were incorporated into the previous municipality of Enkenbach-Alsenborn .

history

The previous Verbandsgemeinde Hochspeyer was established in 1971, the Verbandsgemeinde Enkenbach-Alsenborn in 1972, as part of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate . Previously, the administrative structures originating from the Palatinate (Bavaria) (1816–1946) essentially applied in the then administrative district of Palatinate .

On September 28, 2010, as part of the second phase of amendments to the regional reforms in Rhineland-Palatinate , the state government passed the “First Law on Local and Administrative Reform ” with the aim of improving the efficiency, competitiveness and administrative power of local structures. For municipalities it was determined that they should include at least 12,000 inhabitants (main residence on June 30, 2009). On the reporting date, 6,863 residents were registered in the Hochspeyer community and 12,830 in the Enkenbach-Alsenborn community. During the so-called voluntary phase, which was limited to June 30, 2012, there was no voluntary amalgamation of the Hochspeyer community with a neighboring regional authority .

On July 1, 2014, the association of Hochspeyer was incorporated into the municipality of Enkenbach-Alsenborn on the basis of a state law of December 20, 2013. On January 29, 2016, the Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate dismissed the legal review complaint that the municipality of Enkenbach-Alsenborn had filed against it , and confirmed the legality of the law of December 20, 2013. The court stated that the municipal guarantee of self-government had not been violated and that there were no balancing errors by the legislature.

Association municipal council

The local council Enkenbach-Alsenborn consists of 32 honorary council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a personalized proportional representation were elected, and the full-time mayor as chairman.

In a runoff election on June 8, 2014, Andreas Alter (SPD) was elected mayor of the new community with 60.4%. His eight-year term began on July 1, 2014.

Honorary citizen

  • Hans Buch (1937–2019), graduate engineer FH (specializing in surveying technology), was made an honorary citizen on September 21, 2007 in recognition of his services as mayor of the community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn from 1982 to 2001.
