On July 1, 2014, the community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn and the community of Hochspeyer merged to form a new community of Enkenbach-Alsenborn .

The Verbandsgemeinde Enkenbach-Alsenborn came into force on April 22, 1972 as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate functional and territorial reform on the basis of the “Thirteenth State Law on Administrative Simplification in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate” of March 1, 1972 1972, newly formed. The municipal administrations of Enkenbach-Alsenborn and Neuhemsbach, the “community mayor's offices ” of Mehlingen and Sembach and the tax and municipal revenue department Enkenbach-Alsenborn were dissolved and the administration of the local municipalities was transferred to the municipal administration .
