history

People lived here as early as the Neolithic. To the north of the village there is an urn grave field from the Middle Bronze Age. During excavations in 1999, a settlement from the Young Bronze and Early Iron Ages was found near the burial ground . To the south of the village are the remains of a furnace and a technical system. These systems were probably built in the Early Iron Age.

In 1801, 147 residents lived in Rathsdorf. A fire completely destroyed the village on June 5, 1822. The village was then rebuilt. In 1871 Rathsdorf had 195 inhabitants.

Rathsdorf had been an independent municipality in the Oberbarnim district since the 19th century . In 1928, the town of Altgaul was added to the Rathsdorf community during a community reform .

On April 1, 1959, Rathsdorf was merged with the neighboring community of Neugaul to form the community of Rathsdorf / Neugaul.

On December 31, 1997 the community Rathsdorf / Neugaul was incorporated into Wriezen. At that time about 300 people still lived in the village.
