Rauch Möbelwerke is a German furniture manufacturer based in Freudenberg am Main in Baden-Württemberg . Rauch was founded in 1897 and is one of the largest manufacturers of bedroom furniture and wardrobe programs in Europe. All products are manufactured exclusively in Germany and sold across Europe via stationary furniture retailers and online retailers.

history

In 1897, Wendelin Rauch founded a carpenter's business. In 1927, the second generation joined the company with his son Otto. After the Second World War , the company's three grandchildren took over management of the company. In the 1950s, the company focused on the manufacture of bedroom furniture and was thus successful. In 1953, Rauch furniture was first shown at the international furniture fair in Cologne . In 1958 a chipboard plant was purchased , which since then enabled Rauch to manufacture chipboard independently. In 1963, Rauch already had more than 500 employees.

At the beginning of the 1970s, in addition to a new administration building, a new plant was built, expanding the production area by 50,000 m². The number of employees was already over 1000 in 1973. In 1977 the in-house exhibition for customers from Germany and abroad was held in Freudenberg for the first time. Two years later, Rauch bought the current production facility, Möbelwerke Bürgstadt. In 1999 the three product range brands Dialog, Pack's and Select (formerly Select-Art) are created. In 2009 the company took over the bedroom furniture manufacturer Steffen and integrated it into the Rauch group of companies. The company is now in the 4th generation of the family and employs 1,600 people. In 2020 the company is restructuring its range and replacing the four previous product lines with the three brands rauch BLACK, rauch ORANGE and rauch BLUE.
