History of the shipyard

Shipbuilding in Rauma began in the 16th century. In 1991, the merger of two shipyards resulted in Finnyards , which was bought by the Norwegian Aker group and renamed Aker Finnyards .

Until 2014, the shipyard finally belonged to STX Europe , an international shipbuilding group that acquired the majority of Aker Yards in 2008. As part of the split-up of STX Europe, the Rauma shipyard was closed in 2014, and today's company Rauma Marine Constructions was created as the successor company.
