Ravenscraig Castle , also Craig of Inverugie , is the ruin of a low castle northwest of Peterhead in the Scottish county of Aberdeenshire . The remains of the Tower House from the 15th century with an L-shaped floor plan are considered a Scheduled Monument .

The castle was the manor house of the Torthorston Baronate , originally in the hands of the Cheynes family and passed to the Keiths in the mid-14th century . The king issued a license to build a new castle in May 1491; the Tower House was built on the banks of the River Ugie and was surrounded by a moat for defensive purposes .

King James VI visited the castle in 1589.
