Ray Kaczynski

Ray Kaczynski (born March 26, 1960 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American composer and ( jazz ) drummer.

Kaczynski studied composition and drums at Central Michigan University and the University of Wisconsin, and also specialized in South Indian percussion. He worked as a musician in the ballet field for a long time. a. with Merce Cunningham . As a composer and musician mainly in the experimental field, he performed a. a. at the Canada Jazz Festivals , the Leipzig International Jazz Festival , the Greenwich Summer Jazz , the New Heaven Jazz Fest , the Famagusta Jazz Festival and the Jazz Across the Border in Berlin, went on tours on behalf of the Goethe-Institut and played in productions of the Bavarian and Saarland broadcasting. He composes for theater, radio play and orchestra, including solo CD "Movies for your Head, volume one" (1998), "The Fighting Tango" (Union College) and "GE.blue.GK" for guitar ensemble (1998, Yale University ).

He has worked with musicians such as Randy Brecker , Joe Lovano , Jimmy Knepper , Roswell Rudd , Doc Cheatham , Milt Hinton , Julius Hemphill , Richard Davis , Ernie Watts , Billy Bang , David Murray , Don Byron , Elliott Sharp , Georg Katzer , the Zeitkratzer ensemble , John Schröder , Dieter Köhnlein and Friedemann Graef .
