Raymond Arveiller

Raymond Arveiller (born October 26, 1914 in Paris , † January 12, 1997 ) was a French Romance studies and lexicologist .

Life

Arveiller grew up in Paris, studied at the Sorbonne and was a high school teacher in Monaco from 1940 to 1946 . He completed his habilitation in 1964 with the two Thèses Contribution à l'étude des termes de voyage en français, 1505-1722 (Paris 1963) and Etude sur le parler de Monaco (Monaco 1967) and taught from 1968 to 1984 as a full professor at the Sorbonne. His students include Robert Chaudenson, Jean-Claude Bouvier, Jean Lanher and Gérard Gouiran.
