Raymond Barthelmebs

Raymond Barthelmebs (born April 11, 1934 in Barr ; † October 11, 2011 ) was a French football player .

Athletic career

Barthelmebs moved up to the first division squad of Racing Strasbourg in the early / mid-1950s , but did not make his debut in Division 1 until the 1955/56 season . After relegation in 1957, the goalkeeper moved within the top division to FC Sochaux . Under coach Paul Wartel he reached the final of the French Football Cup with the team in 1959 . In the 2-2 draw against Le Havre AC in the first final, he guarded the goal, in the replay lost with a 3-0 defeat Paul Wendé stood between the posts. In 1960 he was relegated to Division 2 with the club , but this time he remained loyal to the club. In the meantime, he left the club despite being promoted again in 1961 and ended his career as a player-coach at SC Sélestat in the Division d'Honneur as the highest amateur league.
