Raymond Foulché-Delbosc (born January 2, 1864 in Toulouse , † June 3, 1929 in Paris ) was a French Romance scholar , Hispanist , Catalanist , Lusitanist , translator and literary scholar.

life and work

Foulché-Delbosc studied Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and law. He was a student of Alfred Morel-Fatio , but came into conflict with his teacher. From 1892 to 1905 he was a professor at the École des hautes études commerciales de Paris . From 1894 until his death he published 81 volumes of the magazine Revue hispanique, which he founded (with his friend and financier H [enri]. Peseux-Richard) . Recueil consacré à l'étude des langues, des littératures et de l'histoire des pays castillans, catalans et portugais (with the attached series Bibliotheca hispanica). In 1898 he found the establishment of the magazine Bulletin Hispanique (Bordeaux) to be a hostile act and drew a clear dividing line, insofar as he only accepted contributors who did not publish with the competition at the same time. In 1905 the newly founded Hispanic Society of America took over the financing of the Revue hispanique , which opened up to worldwide Hispanic studies.
