Lusitanism

The Lusitanistics is the science that deals with the Portuguese language and literature busy, and is also known as Portuguese Philology referred. The name is derived from the Latin name for Portugal Lusitania and thus from the Roman province of the same name , which comprised large parts of today's Portugal. Together with the Hispanic , the French Studies and Italianistics it forms the central departments of the Romance languages .

The Portuguese-speaking world

Named and divided according to geographical and linguistic aspects, Lusitan Studies deals with the following sub-areas:

  • the Afrolusitanistik deals with the Portuguese language in Africa ( Angola , Equatorial Guinea , Guinea-Bissau , Cape Verde , Mozambique , Sao Tome and Principe u. a.)
  • the Brasilianistik has the language and literature of Brazil on
  • the Galicistik examines in Spain spoken Galician , which is closely related to Portuguese
  • the creolistics deals among others with the mixture of Portuguese with indigenous and other colonial languages
  • the Portugalistik is a relatively new term for the scientific exploration of the language and literature of the Portuguese motherland, which was often used earlier synonymous with the concept of Lusitanistics
