Raymond McCreesh
Raymond Peter McCreesh ( Irish Réamann Mac Raois , born February 25, 1957 in Camlough , † May 21, 1981 in Maze Prison ) was a member of the IRA and hunger striker .
Raymond McCreesh grew up as the seventh of eight children in Camlough, County Armagh, Northern Ireland .
As a teenager he took an active part in the fight against the British occupiers and at the age of 16 became a member of Fianna Éireann , a youth organization of the Irish Republican movement.
After joining the Provisional Irish Republican Army , he was arrested in 1976 after a failed attack on British troops and given a 14-year prison term.
On March 22, 1981, like Patsy O'Hara , he went on a hunger strike from 1981 , as a result of which he died 61 days later.
