Raymond Miles

Raymond Edward Miles (born November 2, 1932 in Cleburne , Texas , † May 13, 2019 in Albany , California ) was an American management researcher .

From 1963 to 1992 he was Professor of Business Administration at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley .

In his work Organizational strategy, structure, and process (1978), together with Charles Curtis Snow , he identified four generic business field strategies of companies: Prospector, Defender, Analyzer and Reactor.
