Cleburne is the county capital and seat of the county seat of Johnson County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located 45 km south of Fort Worth , near the center of the county in northeast Texas and has a total area of ​​78.9 km², of which 6.9 km² is water.

history

During the Civil War , the small settlement was known as Camp Henderson and served as a gathering point for the area's volunteers. It was not until 1867 that it became an ordinary city and, due to its central location, replaced Buchanan as the county seat. The city was named after Patrick Ronayne Cleburne , a major general in the Army of the Confederate States of America .
