Raymond Peynet (born November 16, 1908 in Paris , † January 14, 1999 in Mougins ) was a French graphic artist.

He studied at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris in the 1920s. He occupied himself with drawing caricatures and designing catalogs for French department stores.

He owed his world fame to the lyrical drawings of a couple of lovers: a poet and his bride.

The first drawings were made in 1942 in Valence (Drôme), where an old-fashioned orchestra kiosk for promenade concerts was located on the Marsfeld .

Inspired by the Georges Brassens chanson "Les amoureux des bancs publics" (The lovers of the park benches), Peynet showed the lovers under the kiosk.

Peynet created a total of 6000 drawings dedicated to these lovers. The French Post issued a stamp with a drawing of Peynet on Valentine's Day in 1958. In 2000 a stamp with a face value of 3 francs (€ 0.46) was issued to commemorate the deceased artist.
