Raymond V. Moore

Raymond V. "Duke" Moore (born April 19, 1915 in San Francisco , California , † February 25, 2003 in Sacramento , California) was an American grandmaster, Hanshi , 10th Dan , and a pioneer of Aiki jujutsu . In 1932 he began taking boxing and wrestling lessons .

Moore met Ray Law in 1941 and began teaching judo and jiu jitsu . He began taking judo lessons with George Yoshida in 1943. A year later graduated to the 1st Dan. Ju Jitsu and 1st Dan Judo (by George Yoshida). He opens his first dojo in San Francisco. Ray Law and Duke Moore founded the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation in 1947 . In Kyokushinkai Karate he received the 1st Dan from Ōyama Masutatsu in 1957 . In 1965 Richard Kim awarded him the 7th Dan Aiki-Jujutsu and 4th Dan Judo; Dai Nippon Butoku Kai . The 9th dan Aiki-Jujutsu. was awarded to Moore in 1975. On October 25, 1980 he was awarded the 10th Dan Aiki-Jujutsu. He publishes his book Fighting Spirit of Zen & Holistic Meditation.
