Raymond Weil (entrepreneur)

Raymond Weil (born October 10, 1926 in Geneva ; † January 26, 2014 there ) was a Swiss watchmaker .

Raymond Weil grew up in Aix-en-Provence and attended elementary school and lyceum there. In 1942 the family moved to Basel . In Neuchâtel ( Canton Neuchâtel ) he attended the higher commercial school. In 1944 he graduated from Geneva Business School, and a year later he received his commercial high school diploma. He initially worked for the goods inspection group Société Générale de Surveillance in England, the Netherlands and Belgium.

In 1949 he met his old school friend, Maurice Stroun, who brought him to the family business Camy Watch Stroun Frères SA .

In 1976 he founded his own luxury watch brand Raymond Weil SA . It was not until 2013 that he moved from the executive board to the board of directors of the family company and handed over the operational business to his son-in-law Olivier Bernheim.

Weil was involved in numerous professional associations in the watch industry. For many years he was President of the Exhibitors' Council at the Basel Watch and Jewelry Fair.
