Rayners Lane is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Harrow . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 5, at the intersection of Rayners Lane, Alexandra Avenue and Imperial Drive. Served by the Metropolitan Line and the Piccadilly Line , the station was used by 4.08 million passengers in 2013.

The Metropolitan Railway (predecessor of the Metropolitan Line) opened the line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge on July 4, 1904 . At first the trains were pulled by steam locomotives; this ceased to exist with the start of electrical operation on January 1, 1905. For more than two years, the trains ran through this point without stopping; due to the still low density of buildings, the station was only built later and finally opened on May 26, 1906 .

On March 1, 1910, the line opened from South Harrow , making it possible for trains of the Metropolitan District Railway (now the District Line ) to travel to Uxbridge. The Piccadilly Line replaced the District Line on October 23, 1933. In 1938, the station building was completely rebuilt based on a design by Charles Holden . Like the rest of the buildings of this era, it is characterized by a cube-shaped counter hall made of bricks and glass as well as strict geometric shapes. It has been a listed building ( Grade II ) since 1994 .
