Re: Ignition is an American hard rock band from San Francisco , California that formed in 2003 under the name Def Ignition .
history
The band was founded in 2003 by guitarists Jack Cargile and Steev Esquivel, bassist Mike Kaufmann and drummer Hugo. In August Esquivel joined the band Skinlab , so the project was interrupted for the time being. Esquivel later announced that he had found a suitable singer in Travis Neal.
In 2004 the line-up of the band changed again significantly. In addition to Esquivel, Dave Moore was the singer of the band, while Tim Howell played the electric guitar, Johnny Montanio the bass and Mark Hernandez the drums. In January 2004 the band recorded their first demo and changed their name to Re: Ignition in April. The following month, bassist Burl "Snake" Blakk, also working for Skinlab, joined the line-up. The band then went to Trident Studios to record five new demo songs. Afterwards Esquivel took the singing post of Exodus on their tour through South America . In spring 2005 the band signed a management contract with Archetype Management . In June, a music video for the song Lef Behind was made under the direction of Shawn Sparks . In 2006 the debut album Empty Heart: Loaded Gun was released via Corporate Punishment Records .
style
The band plays hard rock, reminiscent of bands like SOiL , Sevendust and Staind . The vocals can be described as a mixture of Chris Cornell ( Soundgarden ) and Eddie Vedder ( Pearl Jam ).
