Real Audiencia y Chancillería de Granada
The Real Audiencia y Chancillería de Granada (short Chancillería de Granada ) was a judicial body ( Real Audiencia ), which in 1505 from Ciudad Real at the behest of Isabelle I of Castile was moved to Granada. The new Audiencia took over the legal obligations of the older institution and decided on legal issues from the area south of the Tagus ; The Real Audiencia y Chancillería de Valladolid decided on cases from the north of this river .

The first Audiencia , the Real Audiencia y Chancillería de Valladolid , was established in 1371. After the conquest of Granada in 1494, an audiencia for the south of Castile was held in Ciudad Real in 1494 .
In 1500 it was decided to move this second Audiencia to Granada, which was implemented in 1505 during the reign of Joan I of Castile . Other audiencias were later set up, including the Real Audiencia de los Grados in Seville in 1525 .
The Palacio de la Chancillería at Plaza Nueva was built as the seat of the institution from 1531 . The building, which is now the first specially constructed courthouse in Spain and is a listed building for the Supreme Court of Andalusia, was completed in 1587. In addition to rooms for the court, it also contained a prison.
In 1834 the institution was abolished due to the political development towards liberalism. The Audiencia Territorial de Granada took over the function of court , the papers of the Audiencia were transferred to the archives of the Real Chancillería de Granada.
