Real World Studios is the high-tech recording studio of the record label Real World Records Ltd. , which was founded by the musician Peter Gabriel . It is located in an old mill building in the village of Box in the county of Wiltshire ( England ). His aim is to spread world music . It is intended to serve as a stepping stone for musicians from all over the world to bring their music to regions and cultures that they cannot develop themselves, especially to the USA , where music from Africa , Asia and Latin America is rarely broadcast via the usual broadcasters.

The Real World label made musicians like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan , Papa Wemba and Youssou N'Dour known in western culture. Peter Gabriel has released all of his own albums under this label since 1989, and his influence helps sell other artists' world music. His album Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ in particular helped world music make its way into pop music. In addition to Peter Gabriel, the studio is most commercially successful with the band Afro Celt Sound System , which fuses African and Celtic rhythms and melodies.
