The Staatliche Realschule Puchheim is a secondary school in Puchheim in the Upper Bavarian district of Fürstenfeldbruck and was inaugurated in 1980.

history

During the First World War the first airfield in Bavaria was located on what is today the Realschule campus. Thousands of people took the train to Puchheim every day to watch the famous air show . From 1914 to 1921 one of the six largest prisoner of war camps in Germany from the First World War took place on the site . After that, the site lay fallow until the high school was built . Five years after the grammar school opened in 1980, the neighboring building, the secondary school, was inaugurated. Due to the increasing number of students, the community decided to build an extension of the secondary school building in the schoolyard (2001-2003).

The school consists of two buildings, the old and the new building with a total of 80 classrooms. The work, art, music, IT rooms and the school kitchen are on the ground floor. There is also the break sale in the auditorium . The teachers' room , secretariat and the school management's office are located on the first floor . You will also find the physics, chemistry and biology rooms there. On the second floor are the subject rooms for mathematics, geography, BWR and religion, as well as the office of the school psychologist .

The new building houses the specialist rooms for religion, history, German, English and French. The classrooms are more modern than in the old building.

A third building was added in the 2017/18 school year, which is mainly used for the lower grades.

The number of pupils fell by approx. 38% between 1985 and 1990. In the following years it rose again due to the changed school structure. In contrast to the number of students, the number of teachers has hardly increased since 2000.

Elective courses

The Realschule Puchheim offers four different groups of elective subjects:

  • Elective subject group 1 (mathematics and science): Focus: mathematics, physics, chemistry
  • Elective subject group 2 (commercial and economic): Focus: business administration / accounting as well as economics and law
  • Elective subject group 3a (linguistic): Focus: French and business administration / accounting
  • Elective subject group 3b (creative): Focus: works and technical symbols

Electives

The school offers elective courses such as sound and lighting technology, theater, paramedics, mediators , big bands, prefects and others. These programs are voluntary and take place every one to two weeks in the afternoon. Once a year the theater group performs its play in the Puchheim cultural center or in the secondary school.

Student exchange

The secondary school gives the students the opportunity to take part in a 14-day exchange to India every two years . There they experience the everyday life of an Indian family. In return, the Indian exchange students come to Germany and are made familiar with German culture there. The students who want to take part in the exchange have to prepare for it over four months in an India course at the Realschule Puchheim.

School clothes

The school clothes were introduced at the Realschule Puchheim in 2012 and have been designed by the SMV (student council) since then. It consists of jackets, sweaters, hats and T-shirts in different colors and sizes for boys and girls and is embroidered or printed with the school logo. It is not compulsory to wear school clothes.

Mint school

Realschule Puchheim has also been a MINT school since the 2014/2015 school year. MINT is an abbreviation for the subjects mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. The aim of the project is to encourage students' interest in this area. Puchheim is one of 68 specially funded model schools at which various new measures are being implemented and tested. Some measures at the school are, for example, research classes or the optional subject of sound and lighting technology, in which pupils from the 7th grade can participate.

Training school

The Staatliche Realschule Puchheim is a seminar school where trainee teachers are trained in geography, computer science, mathematics and German. Each trainee teacher is assigned one or more classes in which the prospective teacher completes his teaching examination.

Band classes

The Realschule Puchheim has been participating in the "klasse.im.puls" project of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture, Science and Art since 2013. In the 5th and 6th grade, a "band class" is offered that deals with the subject of rock and pop. It is possible to learn to play an instrument (electric bass, electric guitar, keyboard and drums) or to contribute vocally to common music projects. In addition to musical training, stamina, concentration and memory should be promoted. The offer also aims to strengthen teamwork and respectful interaction with one another. The pieces of music developed in the class should be performed regularly in front of an audience in order to train “learning motivation and personal presentation skills”.

Researcher classes

The Realschule also offers so-called "researcher classes" in the 5th and 6th grade. The pupils are introduced to and instructed in the subjects of computer science, physics and chemistry in the lower grades. From the 7th grade on, students in the research classes automatically take elective subject group 1 with a focus on mathematics, physics and chemistry.

Full day class

Since the beginning of the 2017/18 school year, a fifth class has been run as an all-day class. In open all-day classes, schools in the fifth to seventh grade have the opportunity to take part in homework supervision. This offer is offered by the sponsorship of the Social Service Neighborhood Aid Puchheim eV.
