It precedes the official name Staatliche Realschule für Waldsassen boys .

history

After the end of the war, access to secondary schools in Eger was no longer possible and since the Cistercian women founded a middle school for girls, the need for a middle school for boys became clear. On October 9, 1950, the Bavarian State Parliament passed the "Resolution on the establishment of secondary schools". Among them was the middle school for boys in Waldsassen. Thanks to the help of District Administrator Otto Freundl , Mayor Andreas Bernreuther and the entire City Council , school operations began on October 1, 1950 under the headmaster Heinrich Meckl. Initially hospitable, in the building housed the boys' elementary school, the renovation was the first own school buildings are based on 7 December 1950 after finishing.

On January 13, 1958, a first extension was inaugurated due to the increasing number of students and classes. This included the required physics and chemistry rooms . The problems were still not resolved, however, as the students were now spread across three different buildings, which made teaching considerably more difficult. Another extension was needed when the four-level middle school was introduced, which was completed in July 1963. This solved the lack of space, but what remained was the change between the old and the new building and the gymnasium of the elementary school .

With the transfer of sponsorship from the city of Waldsassen to the district of Tirschenreuth , the expansion was realized. After the groundbreaking ceremony in October 1968, the building was ready for occupation in the following school year.

The commissioning of the gymnasium in 1973 as well as the outdoor sports facility and the indoor swimming pool in the 1973/74 school year were further improvements for the school. In December 2010 the completely renovated gym was inaugurated.
