Rebeca Olvera

Rebeca Olvera (born in Puebla , Mexico ) is a Mexican opera singer with a soprano voice .

Life

Olvera completed her vocal studies at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música with Liliana Gómez and made her debut as Marie in La fille du régiment at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City . In Mexico she could also be seen and heard as Adina in L'elisir d'amore , as well as Mozart's Pamina and Blondchen . From 2005 to 2007 she was a member of the International Opera Studio Zurich and was then permanently engaged at the Zurich Opera House . There she was able to develop a broad repertoire and since then has sung among others Rosina in Paisiello's Il barbiere di Siviglia , the Mozart roles Blondchen, Papagena and Barbarina , Xenia in Boris Godunow , Iris in Semele , Juliette Vermont Counts of Luxembourg , the page Isolier in Le comte Ory and the Garçon de cuisine in Rusalka , as well as Natascha in a new production of Péter Eötvös ' Drei Schwestern . In Zurich, Olvera worked and works with well-known conductors such as Ralf Weikert , Vladimir Fedoseyev , William Christie , Marc Minkowski , Nello Santi and Franz Welser-Möst . In 2006 she won the audience award at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna .

As Dorinda in Handel's Orlando , she was not only seen and heard in Zurich, but also at the Komische Oper Berlin (under Alessandro De Marchi ) and at the Opera de Dijon (under Emmanuelle Haïm ). In the Tonhalle Zurich she sang Mademoiselle Silberklang in Mozart's Acting Director with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra , at the Konzerthaus Dortmund in 2010 she also performed Adalgisa in Vincenzo Bellini's Norma - alongside Cecilia Bartoli in the title role. In 2013 she made her debut in the same role - again with Bartoli - at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival . This production was or is also on the program of the Salzburg Festival in the summer of 2013 and 2015 .

Rebeca Olvera made her US debut with the Cleveland Orchestra under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst. With José Carreras she completed a concert tour in Mexico, Argentina, Norway, Cyprus, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and the Czech Republic, as well as at the ARD Carreras Gala 2007 in Germany. In 2012 she sang Pergolesi's Stabat mater in the Dortmund Konzerthaus , and in Zurich she could be heard in JS Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243).

Her main roles include the Isolier in Le Comte Ory , the blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail , Adalgisa in Norma , Natascha in Drei Schwestern , Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro , the young shepherd in Tannhäuser and the kitchen boy in Rusalka .
