Rebecca Sorensen

Rebecca Sorensen (born December 28, 1972 ) is an American skeleton pilot .

Rebecca Sorensen lives in Fort Collins . She started skeleton in 2002 . She contested her first major races the following year and immediately became US runner-up behind Katie Uhlaender . She has been a member of her country's national team since 2004 and competes internationally. In December 2003 she made her America's Cup debut and immediately finished fourth in Park City . In November 2004 she achieved her first place on the podium with third place in Igls in a race in the European Skeleton Cup , which has the same value as the America's Cup. In the following years, Sorensen continued to be used in the America's Cup, from time to time also in the European Cup, and mostly achieved good placements. She won bronze at the 2007 US championships. With the introduction of the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup in the 2007/08 season, she moved up to this higher competition and was eleventh in the first competition in Cesana Torinese . In the third race of the series in Winterberg , she achieved a top ten finish for the first time in seventh place. In the overall standings she reached tenth place, and in the 2007/2008 Skeleton America's Cup, she was also fifth. She came third twice in the series. In early November 2008 , Sorensen won her first America's Cup race in Calgary .
