Office assistant - law firm

Office assistant - law firm (colloquially legal office assistant ) is a training occupation in the legal field in Austria with a training period of 3 years. The regulation of the training is contained in the training regulations for the teaching profession (BGBl II 1998/291). The profession was added to the list of apprenticeships in August 1998 by the ordinance of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs (BGBl II 1998/281) . This significantly expanded the profession of secretary at lawyers and created a new profession. In addition to the office assistant - lawyer, there is also a 3-year apprenticeship for the notarial field in Austria.

education

The training takes place in the dual system , i.e. at a vocational school on the one hand and with a lawyer on the other. The focus of this apprenticeship is on coordinating and monitoring appointments, preparing negotiations and meetings, performing work in the context of payment transactions that are usual for notary or law firms or dealing with court and official matters, as well as creating statistical overviews.
