Ambassador Reda Mansour

Reda Mansour ( Arabic رضا منصور, DMG Riḍā Manṣūr ; Hebrew רדא מנצור; * 1965 in Isfiya , Israel ) is an Israeli poet , historian and diplomat . He has published three volumes of poetry in Hebrew and received the Miller Award from Haifa University Miller Award as well as a state grant for young writers.

Life

Mansour was born in a Druze village in northern Israel. He is a Ph. D. Candidate in the Middle East History Department of Haifa University and a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government (Harvard). He studied Spanish at the University of Salamanca .

Reda Mansour attended the Leo Baeck Educational Center in Haifa and studied at the Technion University . During this time he was active in various organizations whose goal is intercultural understanding.

He is the first non- Jewish author in Israel to write exclusively in the Hebrew language. His short story "Jumblat in the Negev" received an award from the newspaper " Haaretz ". He has also participated in poetry festivals in numerous countries.

Tender Leafs of Conscience

He wrote this collection of poems in Hebrew between 1998 and 2002 in various countries. The poems are about nature and its influence on people. He combines Arabic and Jewish traditions with influences from American literature.

Diplomatic career and political activities

At the age of 35, Mansour, who speaks five languages, became Israel's ambassador to Ecuador . Previously he was an employee of the Israeli embassy in Portugal and consul in San Francisco. He was Consul General for the Southeastern United States in Atlanta and has been Israeli ambassador to Brazil since August 2014 . In 2015 he received honorary citizenship of Brasília , Distrito Federal.

Reda Mansour works in numerous non-governmental organizations in Israel to promote dialogue between Arabs and Jews. He maintains contacts with moderate Muslim leaders in Europe with the aim of condemning Islamism , terror and anti-Semitism .
