Reformed Church of Ftan
The Reformed Church in Ftan in the Lower Engadine in Canton Graubünden is a Grade II listed Evangelical - Reformed church in the village of Ftan Grond.
History and equipment
The church is first documented in 1492. After it was sacked and destroyed in the village fire in 1622 during the turmoil in Graubünden , it was rebuilt in 1633–1634. The nave is designed as a barrel-shaped arched nave , to which the choir is not completely symmetrical, but angled slightly to the south.
The interior of the church is characterized by a loft made entirely of wood , a pulpit with a belly from around 1800 and a Bible box from the end of the 17th century. The bell tower with onion dome is not connected to the church, but stands separately on a rock slab north of the church. The lower part shows late medieval building fabric, while the upper part dates from the Baroque period in 1660.
