The Reformed Church in Sur En in Ardez in the Lower Engadine is a by the canton of Grisons listed Evangelical - Reformed church .

History and equipment

The church was built in 1220; their patronage is unknown. The chapel-like sacred building has a semicircular vaulted apse and contains archaic pews of medieval substance. The unrestored benches on the left were for women.

In 1538 Sur En accepted the Reformation together with Ardez , so that the building became a sermon church . In 1684 after the end of the turmoil in Graubünden and its destruction in the valley, the church was enlarged and in 1694 it was given the current church tower with an open bell. The cylindrical pulpit from 1756 stands on the right in front of the apse; access is via a stone staircase. The church door is from 1945. The stained glass of the round window above shows a dove of peace .

Church organization

In the Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden , Sur En zu Ardez, which is connected to Ftan in a pastoral community, belongs to the Colloquium VIII Engiadina Bassa - Val Müstair .
