Reformed School Ronsdorf
The former Reformed School Ronsdorf is a historic building in Ronsdorf , since 1929 a district of the Bergisch city of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia .
location
It is located in the residential area of Ronsdorf-Mitte / Nord north of the church square of the Reformed Church in Ronsdorf on Elias-Eller-Strasse (named after Elias Eller , the city founder of Ronsdorf). This street was temporarily renamed Deutschherrenstrasse . To the east, the school grounds are bounded by Kurfürstenstrasse . Today's address is: Elias-Eller-Straße 48 .
The school survived the air raid on Ronsdorf largely unscathed, as did some neighboring buildings, including the Reformed Pastorate Ronsdorf , the former parish hall , the Waterhüsken and the residential building at Kniprodestraße 6 .
history
The school was built in 1818 and is one of the oldest school buildings in what is now Wuppertal. In 1859 there was an extension. The new building erected at that time was extended again in 1868.
The schoolhouse , built by the Reformed community in Ronsdorf, was passed into municipal ownership in 1838 and was used as a municipal primary school until the 1980s. Today the house is in private hands and is used for other purposes.
building
The partially slated half-timbered building has a rectangular floor plan. The extension building was increased by one floor in 1868. It was staggered so that the gable ends face west towards Elias-Eller-Strasse and east towards Kurfürstenstrasse. Since September 26, 1985, the school building and the adjoining school yard with the surrounding wall and the towering trees have been under monument protection .
