use

The Waterhüsken

The house was the meeting place of the Evangelical Youth Association founded in 1842 and is now a YMCA home. This explains the popular name Waterhüsken (the translation from Low German is water house , as there were no alcoholic beverages here).

Monument protection

Since the building with the neighboring Reformed Church with church square and the old Schwengel pump , the pastorate , the Reformed school with the school yard , the former parish hall and some surrounding residential buildings such as the Kniprodestrasse 6 building form a historical ensemble and survived the air raids on Wuppertal undamaged, it was on 30 March 1984 under monument protection provided.
