The Refuge du Toubkal - formerly Refuge Issougan n'ouagouns , later Refuge Neltner , in honor of the French geologist and mountaineer Louis Nelter (1903–1985) is a mountain hut at 3207 meters in the municipality of Asni near Jbel Toubkal , the highest point of the High Atlas , in Morocco and beyond North Africa .

The Refuge de Tazaghart is nearby.

history

It is managed by the Casablanca section of the Club Alpin Français (CAF) in Casablanca and is the oldest of the two shelters below the mountain with a height of 4167 meters on the north slope. The construction of the first building by the CAF dates back to 1938 and a restructuring was carried out in 1999.

Features and information

The accommodation capacity in five dormitories is 89 people. It is open all year round.
