The Marrakech-Safi region ( Arabic مراكش - آسفي) is one of the 12 regions of Morocco that were newly created after an administrative reform in 2015 and extends in the west of the kingdom. The name of the region is derived from the two largest cities, Marrakech and Safi . The capital of the region is the city of Marrakech.
population
In the entire Marrakech-Safi region, around 4.520 million people (mostly of Berber descent) live in an area of around 39,000 km². Around 2.582 million people live in rural areas ( communes rurales ), around 1.938 million people live in cities ( municipalités ).

The region consists of the following prefectures or provinces, whose capitals often have the same name:
- Marrakech prefecture
- Chichaoua Province
- Al Haouz Province
- El Kelaâ des Sraghna Province
- Essaouira Province
- Rehamna Province
- Safi Province
- Youssoufia Province
The region comprises 198 rural communities and 18 cities.
