Chichaoua (Province)

Chichaoua ( Arabic إقليم شيشاوة, DMG Iqlīm Šīšāwa , Taschelhit ⵜⴰⵙⴳⴰ ⵏ ⵛⵉⵛⴰⵡⴰ Tasga n Cicawa ) is a province in Morocco that was created in 1991 . It has belonged to the Marrakech-Safi region since 2015 (previously to Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz ) and is located in the south of the country, west of Marrakech and east of Essaouira . The province has about 370,000 inhabitants (2014). The Oued Chichaoua of the same name (sometimes also spelled Shishawah ) is one of two important tributaries of the Oued Tensift .
